Dow Automotive Systems' AERIFY diesel particulate filters (DPFs) provide very low backpressure for improved engine performance while reducing fuel consumption and lowering carbon dioxide emissions as compared with other DPF technologies, claims the company. The filters feature an advanced, highly porous, chemically treated ceramic honeycomb with a microstructure that provides high-filtration performance. Benefits of AERIFY DPFs include high-efficiency particulate filtration, robust strength, and the ability to downsize for smaller packaging without compromising performance. The first commercial applications will incorporate the device into the aftermarket and retrofit markets as the need for DPF replacement parts and clean diesel retrofit technology grows in the U.S. and Europe.
