Denso ADC’s BHT-900 handheld bar-code terminals feature C-language programming and USB connection directly to a PC. Other communications capabilities include Media Transfer Protocol, Bluetooth 2.1, and batch communication via RS232C or USB. Preinstalled software enables instant use for basic data-collection applications. Advanced charge-coupled device technology allows the terminals to recognize hard-to-read or damaged bar codes at a maximum speed of 400 scans/s. The devices can run for 200 h between charges and are robust, having withstood testing of 60 drops onto concrete from a height of 3.9 ft (1.2 m). The lightweight devices have an ergonomic design for touch or distance scanning, and an easy-to-read display.
