CarSim 8.1 vehicle dynamics software from Mechanical Simulation features improvements for both new and existing users. Some of the new features included or available with this release are continuously variable transmission, engine mounts, AVL cruise interface, driver model improvements, configurable table functions, and a new handling course. The new features and the incorporation of VehicleSim Visualizer (VsV) in CarSim 8.1 are a direct result of customer feedback, says the company. VsV makes use of modern graphical processing units (GPU) and shape file formats. It provides advanced lighting (true shadows, multiple light sources, reflected headlights), highly efficient rendering, rear-view mirrors, and advanced techniques such as those used in video game technology.
