The Datron M8 PlasticMill is a high-speed CNC machining center in which a chip extractor surrounds the spindle and is plumbed to the exterior of the machine to eliminate static. It removes slugs as they are milled free from the workpiece to help protect surface finish and quality and minimize cleanup. Plastic dust is managed with two integrated static-eliminating deionizers. The system is used to mill engineered plastics, plastic sheet material, and molded plastic parts, and it can be configured with integrated automation such as work holding, automatic doors, and safety sensors. The machine features a steel bridge reinforced with polymer concrete for enhanced stability and a 2-kW water-chilled, 60,000-rpm spindle for feed rates up to 20 m/min.
