Developed for medium- and heavy-duty truck engines, Federal-Mogul’s electrical brushless diesel fuel pump is designed for improved durability. The pump, which is suitable for 12 and 24 v applications, has an electronic commutation to drive the dc motor. Federal-Mogul’s cost-effective, noncontact technology is more durable than a conventional pump even when mounted directly on the engine, claims the company. The pump’s electrically driven design also reduces the load placed on the engine when compared to conventional belt or gear driven pumps, thereby improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.
